Ensemble playing is a vital aspect of any musical education. Aside from the benefits
of pitch and rhythm training, it is tremendously fun!
Some of the ensembles at Maestro Studios Music Academy include:
- Segno: A string ensemble for adults that meets on a session basis. They perform classical,
pop, jazz, rock and folk music and play a vital role in recitals and our annual concert.
They also periodically perform at local venues such as retirement homes and schools.
- The Accidentals: This string ensemble for adults and teens meets weekly year-round.
They perform an eclectic mix of music and also play a vital role in Maestro Studios
performances.
- Cantando: This string ensemble for teens meets on a session basis. They are a teen
version of Segno, performing at Maestro Studios and community events.
- The Evil Cellos: Originally formed to create the sound of the evil pirates in our
production of Music From The Sea, this ensemble consists entirely of cellos. They
must be heard live to appreciate the power and effect that so many cellos can create.
Stay posted for a special event hosted by The Evil Cellos coming this October!
- Pit Orchestra: This ensemble is formed each April through June to provide live music
for Haddonfield Theater Arts Center’s annual musical production. Consisting of about
15 musicians, both students and professionals, this ensemble provides a unique opportunity
to perform Broadway-style music in a dramatic setting.
- String Orchestra: This is a large ensemble, open to strings, pianos and flutes, which
performs a primarily classical repertoire of music. The current installment of the
string orchestra boasts 20 performers.
- Free Jam Sessions: Hosted periodically by our guitar instructors, musicians of any
instrument are guided through a series of chord progressions and styles and then
set loose to create music on the fly. It’s fun and free!
- Guitar Ensemble: Ensemble Alhambra. Open to guitarists teen to adult of any level.
